CONTEMPORARY ART FORMS

During a recent visit to Rome I stayed at the Irish College Guest House. Its Chapel is extensively decorated with superb mosaics designed and installed by the Jesuit priest Marco Rupnik. They are not only a joy to look at but also an inspiration for prayer. I had previously come across Marco’s work at San Giovanni Rotondo. I was privileged to watch him and his team completing his mosaics in the shrine of Padre Pio. They are superb, alive with profound meaning, light, and colour, illustrating details of the lives of St. Francis of Assisi and Padre Pio. Marco’s work is of the highest standard – it is obviously the product of Divine inspiration and genius.
