PASTORAL LITURGY

Liturgy and worship must speak to people, and it does this in many ways. The attitude and bearing of the Celebrant or Presider is of vital importance in setting the tone of a service. He or she has a difficult job but people always respond to sincerity. The 'cult of personality' has no place in worship. You so often come across clergy who treat worship as a 'performance'. They seek to engage people through personal charisma. Undoubtedly this can work in a few situations but it is better avoided.
