This is a thorny topic! But it's a good time in the year to address it, when there's a lull over the summer break before work starts on Christmas music. From a musical point of view the ideal situation is that all members of a choir should be re-auditioned every two years, and that all applicants should be auditioned before entry. This will prevent a choir from aging and will ensure that members are of a good vocal and musical standard.
