To keep a choir moving forward, it's very necessary to introduce them to challenging music. But there's often a latent resistance to new ideas so it may need careful handling. Choirmasters have to keep abreast of the ever-developing repertoire of new liturgical music and this can be time-consuming. The more study days that the choirmaster can attend the better - the RSCM runs excellent ones.
