I had a fascinating evening recently at Trinity College, Dublin in Ireland, when I gave a Conducting Workshop to one of its many choirs. The students were partly from the Music Faculty and partly from other disciplines. What they all had in common was an interest in developing their conducting skills - but most had little experience of how to direct a choir. The event came about because the choir had recently performed a composition of mine at a concert. They had sung with musical insight and technical assurance - a great performance that I much enjoyed.
