All choirmasters have to do this ... and most of us find it difficult! Some of you are superb at it but I suspect that you are few in number. Do you know that in Germany it's common practice for German choir directors to prepare a programme for a complete year including concerts and recitals. How impressive is that? I recently studied the annual music programme for Bonn Cathedral. It was beautifully printed and had excellent photos - it also contained advertising. The programme was first class but it wasn't in any way unique - there are many similar printed programmes throughout Germany. It presents an ideal to which we can all aspire and work toward.
