It's what can turn a good performance into a bad one; turn pleasure into suffering; and make a performance memorable for all the wrong reasons! What is it? Poor Intonation. Choirs regularly sing out of tune and it's essential that choirmasters can spot this, hear what notes are off-key and have the ability to correct them. Many choirmasters find it difficult to hear and analyse poor intonation but if you can't do this ... then you'll never be able to correct the fault! This is an aspect of choirmastering that needs continual work.
