Music only exists in performance - without performance it remains blots on paper and nothing else. The great question for composers is how to get their music performed – how to turn those blots into vibrant, living, sound. Obviously the music has to be of high quality, but the presentation of the manuscript is also vitally important. Put yourself in the position of a choirmaster, singer or publisher. How would you expect a manuscript to look and feel?
