Introducing choirs to challenging music is very necessary, but there's often a latent resistance to new ideas - so it may need careful handling. Choirmasters have to keep abreast of the ever-developing repertoire of new liturgical music and this can be time consuming. The more study days that you can attend, the better – the RSCM runs excellent ones.
